Some of you may or may not know that for many years I taught photography for a living. I would have to say that as with many things in life that one of the best way to learn something is to teach it and for me that was certainly the case. I learnt so much from teaching and took those lessons and continued to develop my knowledge long after I left my job.
I have put together a beginners photography course that might interest some newer photographers (or indeed those for whom the exposure choices can still be a bit of a tangled question). I figured I would do a shout out about the new course through my blog because you, my kind readers, might know of someone that could benefit from a little personal hep with their photography.
If not, I have of course included some recent photos for your viewing pleasure so feel free to skip to the bottom and check them out but if this is of interest – read on 😉
When I first started my photography I did a lot of self learning about exposure (the amount of light that is hitting the camera sensor through a combination of aperture and shutter speed, and the resulting brightness or darkness of an image). In my reading I tackled shutter speed, aperture and ISO and by the time I finished I understood what they did and how they worked but that final step of practical application I just couldn’t get to balance in my own head. I took a beginners course and the information was a great clarifier of what I had learned and really got me taking control of my camera rather than my camera making decisions for me (auto).
In the course that I am presenting I will teach about what shutter speed, aperture and ISO are and do and how they work together, along with some basic compositional tips, looking after your precious investment with some camera care, a little bit about different image file types (RAW vs jpeg), using on camera fill flash for people piccys and a few special little tips and hints I’ve learned along the way.
If this sounds like something that might interest you, or someone you know please feel free to contact me for more information. The next scheduled course is Monday 25th Nov, 9am-4.30pm in Brisbane. Course cost: $200 per person with all notes included. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Many thanks for your support and I promise the next post will be of a less commercial nature 😉
